The Leclerc circuit was dominated by Paul Ricard, who qualified first and held off Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton from the start on Sunday.

Monegasque driver on lap 18 caused him to lose his rear end and hit the tire wall, \allowing Verstappen to take a lead that was never threatened by the chasing pack.

A late mistake in Sergio Pérez's virtual safety car allowed George Russell to finish third behind Hamilton,

leading to a weekend for Mercedes. Things could have been very different for Ferrari, whose chaotic race

strategy for Carlos Sainz eventually saw him take P5, when it looked like a podium shot was possible.

There was stunned silence around the Ferrari garage as Leclerc lost the rear end and crashed into the barrier, preventing some early pressure from Verstappen to build a good lead.

Back at the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, Leclerc was battling with Perez's Red Bull and looked

strong before a mistake at turns 14-15 cost him the chicane. He recovered, but only finished sixth.

After the first mistake, this time the second mistake was clearly in his mind. A lack of rear grip or a throttle

problem seemed to have caused the spin, but his scream of frustration over the team radio told its own story.
